Here are just a few of the past investments made by Provision Ministries International:
Honduras:
Improved Traditional Farming
We work with farming families living in the highlands of western Honduras; providing training and resources that help them create healthier lives through the sustainable production of fruits and vegetable crops.
Irrigation & Drinking Water
Diarrhea caused by contaminated water is the number one killer of children in Honduras. We are helping families fight back against this needless killer through drinking and irrigation water projects. With water saving drip irrigation systems families will be able to grow crops year round and deliver to markets when the prices are at their peak.
Malnourished Children
We work at an orphanage / nutrition center in the town of Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras. Families in rural Honduras often face the hard truth of not having enough food to go around. When that happens families have little choice but to bring their youngest to a feeding center. These children may spend the rest of their childhood in a center such as this one. The center where we work houses about 50 kids, 30 under the age of 2. We provide love, hugs and smiles to these who are most precious to God's heart.
Nepal:
Encouraging Pastors
We have worked with pastors and their congregations in many remote areas providing teaching, encouragement
and opportunities to reach out to their community and make a difference!
Fighting Poverty
PMI has, through the local churches, provided female goats and pigs to the poorest families in many villages. These animals provide food and business opportunities to help families earn a living. Each family is required to breed their animal and give one female offspring back to the church. The church then has another animal to give to a new family! This one time gift continues to give making this a great investment into a community. Christians are touching their villages and are now coming up with their own new creative ways to help their neighbors. PMI is exploring the idea of starting a goat farm that could economically provide goats to hundreds of villages throughout Nepal.
Church & Ministry Leadership Training
PMI provides leadership training to church pastors, leaders and workers. We encourage these men and women to become effective leaders in their communities and to invest in those they serve to become the people God wants them to be! Many of these leaders have had very little formal education and no biblical training. Many are too poor to travel to the larger cities for religious training. Transportation often requires several days journey by foot to a place they can then take a bus. PMI goes into the jungles and remote areas to provide the training where it is needed the most - in their own communities!
