While the entire country of India was on lock-down, the area where the orphanage is located recently opened up and construction started again. Staff, children and workers were tested for the virus and thankfully each test was negative. Although GSM could not legally build during the lockdown, they continued to provide food and medicine to thousands of people in many local communities to help families.
Every building project feels so slow in the beginning with very little visual reward. Move some dirt… Move some more dirt… Dig a hole… Fill a hole… Dig another hole… put some metal in the ground…
So much of the work in building is creating a proper foundation (metaphor perhaps?). Dirt, dirt, dirt, concrete, then wham! a building seems to appear out of nowhere. This orphanage is no different, and we are so excited to finally see it go vertical!
