Agriculture Feeds Children

Good Samaritan Mission

Feeding hungry people in India is no easy task! A priority for Provision Ministries is assisting our partners as they develop methods toward achieving their goal of self-sustained living by the viable means within their country. One of our partners, Good Samaritan Mission (GSM), has been able to acquire local fields in which they grow rice. This rice helps in feeding the children living at the Kolluru Orphanage, and in feeding others who are helped by GSM’s outreach. The rice can also be sold to raise money to meet their growing needs.

GSM is working to acquire a herd of water buffalo as a source of meat and milk. Cows, being considered sacred in India, are not eaten; so, water buffalo provide a much needed source of protein in meat. Holy Cow, a charity in Sisters, Oregon as well as members from Sisters Community Church, have been instrumental in raising funds to allow GSM to purchase high quality animals for breeding. We have hopes to eventually help with other animals, such as chickens, which will provide meat and eggs.
